Myths About Carpet Cleaning

Myths About Carpet Cleaning

Here are myths about carpet cleaning that you’ll want to ignore.

Carpets can bring a lot of comfort and warmth to people’s businesses. A problem with carpets is that they can sometimes be difficult to clean. That’s why it’s important to know the right carpet cleaning techniques so that your carpets can look nice in the long run. Sometimes, however, you might hear myths about how best to clean your carpets, and we want to debunk some of these myths with you today. Here are myths about carpet cleaning that you’ll want to ignore.

“Scrubbing Stains Helps to Remove Them More Quickly”

Scrubbing out stains sounds like a perfectly good way to keep your carpets clean. The truth, however, is that scrubbing out stains doesn’t actually work in practice. It only serves to spread stains around so that they affect an even wider area of your carpet. Instead of scrubbing your carpets, you should blot the affected areas with a clean cloth and some cold water. Make sure to include some white vinegar and a mild variety of carpet cleaner as well.

“Steam Cleaning Can Shrink Your Carpeting”

Some people might be concerned about the idea of steam cleaning their carpets out of concern that their carpets might shrink in the process. This is a big carpet cleaning myth that can discourage people from deep cleaning their carpets as needed.

We want to let everyone know that steam cleaning can be perfectly safe to perform as long as it’s done properly. Make sure that your carpets don’t become too saturated, and get plenty of ventilation into rooms where steam cleaning is done. This can accelerate the drying process.

“Carpet Cleaning Isn’t Needed for New Carpets”

You might think that carpet cleaning isn’t needed when your carpet is brand new. After all, shouldn’t new carpets be fresh and clean from the get-go? While this makes sense on paper, the installation process can actually make new carpets dusty. That’s why, after the installation process is completed, it’s good to get carpet cleaning done so that you can remove all of this dust.
