Cleaning Wooden Office Furniture

Cleaning Wooden Office Furniture

Here is what you can do to keep your wooden office furniture in the best condition possible by regularly cleaning it.

In an office setting, you’re likely to see a variety of furniture surfaces and materials being used. It’s not rare for there to be a mix of cloth, leather, chrome, laminate, and of course the timeless classic, wood. In order to get the most out of your wooden office furniture, you want to make sure you’re taking the proper steps to maintain it. That means cleaning and caring for it on a regular basis. Here is what you can do to keep your wooden office furniture in the best condition possible by regularly cleaning it.

Using Cleaning Products

Whenever working with wooden furniture in your workplace, make sure that whatever products you’re using are made to be used with wood. You don’t want to saturate wooden surfaces with water or harsh chemicals that can end up causing harm to the material. Take a look at the labels of any products you use and if you’re still unsure, do a spot test. Pick an inconspicuous spot that you don’t mind possibly scuffing up and use the product there; wait a day and if all is well, you should be good to go.

Use a soft cotton cloth to apply any cleaning products. This can also help in removing fingerprints and other minor scuffs on your wooden office furniture.

Polishing the Wood

You may also want to use a supplemental polishing solution if your wood cleaning products aren’t leaving you with the shine you want. You can apply this to the entire wood surface area of any chairs, tables, or other wood office furniture you may have. Give special care to the tops of furniture as well as legs and arms, which can give you a clean, professional look. Just be gentle as wood is a sensitive material to work with.

Regular Dusting

You may not need to apply a deep cleaning solution or polishing product all that regularly, but if you want to maintain your wooden furniture’s looks, the best thing you can do is give it a regular dusting. Take a nice, clean wool cloth or even a cotton duster and remove any dust that accumulates on the surface. Doing this once every other week, even once a week, will help you maintain your furniture’s appearance for a long time to come.
